A foreskin is the piece of skin which covers the end of the penis. If you have undergone a circumcision then you will no longer have one. If you have a tight foreskin that is difficult to pull back you may be very embarrassed and concerned as well as feeling a degree of pain. If you suffer from any tight foreskin problems than you will be glad to know that there is treatment available to you.
Having a tight foreskin is an actual medical condition, it is known as phimosis. If you have this then you will not be able to pull the foreskin down to reveal the tissue underneath and there is likely to be a build up of a white substance known as smegma due to a lack of washing in the area. It can also be very painful when your penis is erect.
For some men it has been a problem that they have had since their childhood while others may develop up later on due to particular infections such as thrush.
If you suffer from phimosis then by trying to force the foreskin down over the head of the penis may even worsen the condition as the skin may crack. It may help to try to stretch the foreskin each morning before getting out of bed.
If the problem persists then you will need to consult a doctor who is often likely to recommend an operation, which may or may not be what you’d like. The most common procedure is to have a circumcision. This will involve your foreskin being cut away by a surgeon. It will cause you some discomfort for a number of weeks afterwards so it is best to avoid tight trousers or pants.
There is another operation available, this is known as preputioplasty. It is not as severe as a circumcision as the foreskin is simply sliced and then cross stitched as opposed to being removed completely. It sounds nasty but it will almost certainly solve your problem.
